9.14.25 – 10.19.25 | Casual Alchemy: Making Friends with Psyche | 6-Week Online Program with Artist Daniel Mack

Casual Alchemy: Making Friends with Psyche
A 6-week Zoom Playdate

Jungian artist Daniel Mack is offering an experimental experience built more on the model of a playdate or a flea market, than a traditional “course” in art-making and creativity, believing that all of us are quite capable of creating and examining our own realities. To nurture creativity we need more of a guide than an instructor. Important “learning” happens alone and privately. Participants will be encouraged to explore their environments for inspiration and to fiddle with items of interest which can be more powerful than assignments. Daniel considers the Zoom format well-suited for this guided mentorship which will be more about personal discovery than accomplishing a specific skill or outcome.

This program considers that the home-based participant in this exploration will be more in charge, and perhaps less haunted  or limited by school learning experiences. At the beginning of each zoom meeting, a short presentation will be given, the group will kick it around (or out) and then we will proceed to share the things that we have made, while recalling subtle, or interesting encounters with people, plants, animals from the week prior. This will all be in service to leaning into the elusive qualities of Psyche. As Heraclitus put it: “Nature loves to hide”. This is a six-week game of numinous hide and seek.
